Optimisation of the pallet labelling process in Mineral Water
Company MINERÁLNE VODY a.s. Prešov, the leading Slovak producer of natural mineral waters SALVATOR and BALDOVSKA, spring water SAVIOR and infant water DROBČEK, which can be found in almost all supermarkets and retail chains. The Salvator Lipovce plant, located in the Prešov district, captures and bottles natural, highly mineralised mineral water with an increased content of calcium, sodium and magnesium (it has the highest magnesium content of Slovak mineral waters).
Original state and need for change
MINERÁLNE VODY a.s. used to mark the pallets manually in its production plant in Lipovce. The original process consisted of the VZV handler having to pre-print the labels for the entire production batch. When removing a pallet at the end of the dispatch line, he had to repeatedly get off the VZV, find the correct label, manually apply it to the pallet, get on the VZV, take a picture of the pallet, remove it and stack it at the dispatch point. The process was inefficient, time-consuming, uncomfortable and at risk of pallet labelling errors.
Automation of the labelling process
When designing the automated application solution, it was essential to design a machine that would be able to operate non-stop for long periods of time in a variety of conditions - winter and summer, with minimal intervention in the machine setup, high consumable capacity to minimise the need for frequent replacement and the ability to apply from two sides of the pallet in one cycle. Limited space for applicator placement was also worked with.
"We use LOGOPAK applicators in our plants, which have been working reliably for almost 12 years and without breakdowns. That is why we decided to approach KODYS SLOVENSKO, s.r.o. as the exclusive partner of LOGOPAK for the delivery and installation of the equipment. Installation, integration and start-up took less than two days. The automation of the pallet labelling process has saved us the cost and time of at least one person on each shift, as there is no longer a need to manually pre-print and glue labels."
